About the Conference
Since its founding, an important component of the GPS has been the GPS Annual Conference (GPSAC). The GPSAC provides physics graduate students an opportunity to present their research projects to peers as well as the staff and faculty of the Physics Department. In 2015, the GPSAC expanded its scope to include giving first year students a chance to meet more senior graduate students and learn about the various research projects taking place in the department.
The GPSAC is designed with two main goals:
- Provide the second and higher year graduate students of the Notre Dame Physics Department with an opportunity to present their research work. This helps them gain experience in speaking to a broader audience.
- Introduce first year students to the myriad of research efforts taking place in the different research groups of the department. This provides the students with additional insight during the process of selecting an advisor.
The conference consists of both posters and talks from graduate students in the department. Prizes are awarded for the best posters.
